Passages Hospice supports prostate cancer research with Movember donation
11/28/2011 - Lisle, IL - Passages Hospice is a proud supporter of the Prostate Cancer Foundation through a donation to the Movember movement.
Each year, almost a quarter of a million men will receive a new diagnosis of prostate cancer - one every 2.2 minutes. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men, with 97% occurring in men over age 50.
"As a healthcare provider, it's important to support other organizations in their efforts to treat and cure diseases like prostate cancer," says Seth Gillman, Passages Hospice Administrator.
"Our donation to the Movember movement is just one small way we're joining the fight against these devastating cancers."
Almost half of Passages Hospice patients are men over age 50.
Movember partipants grow a moustache from November 1-30 while raising funds to support prostate cancer research. The Movember movement started in Australia in 2003 and has raised $174 million to date, with partnerships from Prostate Cancer Foundation and LiveSTRONG.
